Hello!
It's soooo late here and I would love a cup of good coffee! Probably not a good idea as I still need to Go to bed!

Painted House A Day
It was so much fun to make and now that it is finished I see where I could have added more. I would have liked to add some of the quotes I used on this blog, with each daily painted house... But that is how this whole art project has been; a real learning experience that I can mold and adjust as I learn and find new things to add at a later time.
As I get ready to prepare for my art show with my painted houses ...
My good friend and fellow artist, Jenn, wrote to me in a recent email...

"Hi Christy,
I feel compelled to write you... and yes you can copy any of my words to your blog.
CONGRATULATIONS AND I AM SOOOOOO SUPER PROUD OF YOU>
What an amazing collection of houses you have created in the last 6 months. I have really enjoyed getting my daily fix of your creative insights. If you were a Master of Fine Arts Student, this completion of 183 houses would be your grand thesis! Your artist statements, and quotes in your blog and images all work very well together. It is like stepping into your mind and holding a personal art journal in my hands. I feel inspired, and long for something like that myself.
Your commitment has been great, working daily painting into your busy mom days is even more impressive. There is sacrifice to follow the inner artist, and I am thankful for you that you have a supportive family, so you can get the works from creative to physical process. And I look forward to where these little arts take you, as I see larger canvases in your future in this theme.
Your use of color is excellent and fun. Childlike in brightness but sophisticated in compositions. The variety of the body of work is impressive. And I enjoy that you have so many series to view". ---Jenn
WOW!!!
My friends words really meant a lot to me, especially after completing this project and feeling a bit let down...how you feel when you finish something hugely important and there is not a room full of people surprising you with gifts and cakes and recognition you so think you deserve:).
I like what she said about how lucky I am to have my family support me in my art...it is so true! My daughters and husband are wonderful. And my family back in Seattle, even from afar I could call and talk with about my project and feel they supported me. My mom always has great insight towards my art.
Throughout my six month journey of painting my 183 houses, I often called Jenn for inspiration as well as critique...she always kept me on track!
Look at some of her work...Amazing Zentangles! Something I haven't yet had the patience to try.
But really this isn't why I started this journey and it's not at all why I make art! Although it is wonderful to have recognition, I create art because it is a part of me. Something I Have To Do! Part of living and breathing and I get grumpy when I take time out of my studio. And I love sharing my paintings and seeing peoples reactions when they look at my art.
So my art journey continues...
I can't wait to share more with you!
