I am missing the rain!
It has been so hot here in Texas and no rain for months!  There is rain and thunderstorms in the forecast for this weekend, so hopefully I can do a rain dance soon!

Check back tomorrow for House #158.

House #51 - Rain 6

Rain 6

May 13th,  2014

I love the rain we are having here in Texas! It was cool enough last night that I was able to leave the windows open to bring in a nice breeze and hear the rain and thunderstorms.
I'm sure we will be back in the heat soon but I am enjoying the change for now.

The picture below is the view from our front yard, of the rain clouds right before the thunderstorms arrived. I do love the rain storms here in Texas.

I am thinking a couple more days for this rain series before I begin a new series.

Check back soon to see my postings on pre ordering your original art house paintings.  I will have each painting listed with the image and the link to purchase it directly on my blog.
Keep in mind that your purchase will hold your painting and you will receive it after I have my show with all 183 paintings.  This show will take place sometime this fall/winter. In the mean time you will receive a post card print of the house you purchased.

House #50 - Rain 5

A Painted House A Day
House #50
Rain 5

I must have called the rain to Central Texas! Ever since I started this rain series we have had some much needed rain storms.
I love the rain...and even more now that I live away from Seattle, where I grew up.
I came across this qoute and it reminded me of how I feel about being raised in Seattle and living with an abundance of rain.

Rain 2

I love this tiny house! My great friend, Jenn ...also an artist suggested that I might want to paint some art houses with smaller houses.  This is the first of the tiny houses ...more to come in this rain series.
Thanks Jenn!

House #46 - Rain 1

A Painted House A Day
House #46
Rain 1

I decided today to move on to a new series of art houses. This series will be named, "Rain."
I have found that I love working in a series as it allows for continuity in this project of,  A Painted House A Day.
It seems so far-at least, that six or seven art houses are my limit for a series and I'm ready to move on.

This Rain Series has been on my mind for a while and today was a good day to start. Coincidentally it rained here in Central Texas...thunderstorms all day. We have had a dry spell up until today.

I grew up in Washington State, near Seattle where the rain is nothing new.
Now, living in Texas, I miss the rain(although sunny days are wonderful) and a rainy day brings memories of "home."
When I think of rain I have memories of listening to the drops and pitter patters on the roof as I slept. I remember playing in the puddles and rain walks without out an umbrella.
I love the smell just before the rain comes down...the smell of rain - a clean smell.

Today as the rain came down I sat out on our back yard porch with my youngest daughter and we watched sheets of rain fill the grass with puddles of mud.

Here is the first house in the Rain Series. Also a couple pictures from our rainy day.
Enjoy!
