New Abstract Painting

New work!
I am trying to get in my studio more often.  It's not always easy to make the time.  And even harder, is, trying to market my art and get it seen.
Here is my most recent painting, which is available for purchase here

"In Between Summer"
Acrylic on Canvas
18x18 inches

My work conveys texture, color, and emotions of the world as I see it. Rather than working to create an exact replication, I find more interest in the process of creating a feeling, mood, and movement.

Art Studio New Paintings Summer Flower Series

Summer Flower Series

What's in my studio today?

I started two summer flower series paintings.  This one is a commission, which will be going to a client in Dallas, Texas, when it is finished. It's exciting to create an original art work for someone to enjoy and to their specific design request.
I create paintings from emotion, color, and feel instead of portraying a realistic image. I hope that when someone sees my work they will feel a connection and emotions to the colors and texture.

Artist in Action Art Demo Salado Art Experience

My first time of painting in public - at the Artist in Action Immerse and Emerge this past weekend, was a blast!

I didn't take as many pics as I had wanted, but here is what I do have...

Painting away and making progress on this canvas!

I love this quote!  It is so true for me.

"I dream a lot. I do more painting when I'm not painting. It's in the subconscious".
-Diego Rivera

Ciena with Winery Cat...that is really her name:)

Some of the materials I used...I also had a table set up for the public to experiment with painting techniques...Wish I would have taken a picture

What I learned from my Public Painting experience:
-Music is important
-Having the public art experimenting table was a hit
-Having my daughters with me was great (in this small setting) but maybe not so much if it were a larger crowd
-More than two hours would be fine (it actually went by fast)
-One glass of wine was perfect
-I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be
-I would like to do it again

Thanks everyone who stopped by to see me!

Hanging Paintings for Show - A Painted House A Day

Today I hung my paintings, for...

I took all 183 little houses, painted on canvas, plus eight new larger house theme paintings and drove them to Salado Winery

It is a bittersweet feeling,
After almost one year of working on this art challenge/project it is coming to it's final stage. It also very rewarding to know that I completed my goal and I am excited to share them with my community.

Here is a sneak peek into my show!

Grays and Greens and a Little Blue of Course

Working on this painting today!

I am trying new colors. I LOVE these grays and greens.  I did add a bit of blue...I just can't not use it!

RE- WORKING an ORIGINAL PAINTING

Hi All!

I just wanted to share a painting that I have recently been working on.  The second bottom painting is how it started.  I have had it in my studio and look at it a lot, and realized yesterday that I wasn't happy with it.  This doesn't happen a lot, but when it does, I usually end up re- working the whole painting.

So this is how it has changed!
TOTALLY different, I know.

I did keep the three houses, but changed their colors.  I think I have a bit more to do...but will look at it for a couple of days before I decide.
What do you think?  Thoughts?  Comments? I would love to know what you think!
