Artist in Action Immerse and Emerge the Salado Art Experince

A Work in Progress...

Currently Untitled
Mixed Media on Canvas
24" x 48"
Christy Tremblay

My next art event is this Saturday from 2 pm to 4 pm at Salado Winery, Salado, Texas.

Immerse and Emerge  the Salado Art Experience

I will be working on this painting during the event,
Artist in Action Christy Tremblay
in hopes to get it close to completion. I don't usually work in public on my art, actually, almost never! SO, this should be an interesting task for me as well as interesting for the public to view.

My typical "work" time of creating in my studio is very solitary.  My dog Finn does join me on many occasions...if he's not sleeping on the couch.  Painting for me is meditative and an inward experience. Any noise, except my music is distracting.

I decided the best way to paint in public for this event would be to have a painting that is about half way complete...A Work in Progress!

This way, I can add the details to the painting and not worry about the first layers needing to dry.

I'm sure I will learn a lot about myself as an artist!

Check back to see an update and pics from the event.

This means that I will be extra busy and not painting much or posting on my Blog.

Be sure to check back, as I will eventually set up my new studio in D.C. and explore all new art opportunities.

RE- WORKING an ORIGINAL PAINTING

Hi All!

I just wanted to share a painting that I have recently been working on.  The second bottom painting is how it started.  I have had it in my studio and look at it a lot, and realized yesterday that I wasn't happy with it.  This doesn't happen a lot, but when it does, I usually end up re- working the whole painting.

So this is how it has changed!
TOTALLY different, I know.

I did keep the three houses, but changed their colors.  I think I have a bit more to do...but will look at it for a couple of days before I decide.
What do you think?  Thoughts?  Comments? I would love to know what you think!

New Mixed Media Original Painting

(c) Christy Tremblay 2015 All Rights Reserved

"Untitled" (for now)
Original Christy Tremblay
Mixed Media on Canvas
30 inches x 30 inches

Hello to All!

I have been busy working on this larger painting, which will be featured in my upcoming show, A Painted House A Day

I posted the first stages of this 30 inch x 30 inch works a couple of days ago.
This is what it looked like in the early stages.

I was able to work on it some more, and am really loving how it has evolved!

Maybe a few more marks and details before I add the varnish...what do you think?

I really need to look at the painting from a far to see it as a whole. At this point I may add more marks and small details, before I add the final varnish.

This is the stage I call, "stepping back."
I wrote about the stages of painting in a previous post...How Does an Artist Know When a Painting is Done?

I think it is almost ready for varnish!

I would LOVE to hear what you think!

I took some fine art classes from Auburn University art department to keep my teaching certificate current.   Little did I know at the time, it was those art instructors  who would have a great impact on my art interest, style, and direction.

One of the classes I took was on women's art history.  I learned about Frida Kahlo and have since loved her life story and her art work.
Her art inspired my choice of color palette for this small painting and mixed media metal star.
I love the bold richness of the colors. Check back to see where this may lead.
