 Main St., Salado, TX 76571

Join us on Saturday, January 24th from 5-8 pm, when Christy Tremblay will be on hand to discuss her art show “A Painted House a Day“.  Ms. Tremblay, a mixed media artist,  was selected for the next exhibition at the winery due to her unique perspective on military life.

Christy just completed an art challenge, A Painted House A Day. Her goal was to create with paint and mixed media one house image a day, for 183 days. She completed 183 Painted Houses from March 2014 to September 2014.
A Northwest native, Christy has taught in Korea and visited cities, rural areas and islands in Southeast Asia. She started using the imagery of houses in her art about four years ago when she and her family were living on Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. They had a historical Bungalow with a lot of charm.  She says, " Growing up I had two houses I called 'home.' As an adult and with a family of my own, I have had many houses to make a home. My husband is Active Duty Army and we move often.  Although a move comes with work and saying
goodbyes, we embrace each move and look forward to our new adventures, people to meet, and places to explore. Houses are houses. A home is for a family to create safety, love, and memories. As I make each move with my two daughters and husband, I find our locations and houses to change, but our home stays the same.”

The Salado Winery gallery will be filled with Ms. Tremblay's artwork, which will be available for sale throughout the spring.  Wines produced on the premise will be available for savoring as folks view and purchase these local art treasures.

Mixed Media Paintings - My Favorite Painted Houses!

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by.

As I have finished ALL 183 painted houses I wanted to share my favorites...which is tough because I really love them all.  But I do have some that I am drawn to more then others.

This is why art is so wonderful, that it can mean something different to each of us and bring out different emotions and memories for each person.

Here are some of my favorite painted houses and my story behind a Painted House A Day...for those of you who are new to my blog, A Painted House A Day.

Here is a little history on the subject matter of "Houses" and why they are such a meaningful image in my life:
I lived in the same house since I was two years old, after moving across country from Tampa, Florida to Seattle, WA. I was raised in the same house since I was two and my parents still live in that house, in Washington State.
I moved away for college to Northern Arizona and also lived in Korea to teach English after college. I always had the travel bug!

I often went back to my home in Washington between my college and adventures in traveling.
To me a house is security, happiness, and home.

Now I move every one to two years, my husband is in the Army and we get to live in many places and houses.

I started using the imagery of a house in my art about four years ago when we were living on Fort Bliss in Elpaso, TX. We had a historical Bungalow with a lot of charm. www.elpaso.about.com/.../FortBlissTour_3.htm

I always wondered about all of the different military families who had occupied the house before us.  Where were they from? Where did they consider home?  How many children did they have?

I wrote the following short story and added it to the back of a series of paintings I created called, "Home Again."

" Growing up I had two houses I called "home."
As an adult and with a family of my own, I have had many houses to make a home.
My husband is Active Duty Army and we move a lot!
Although a move comes with work and saying goodbyes, we embrace each move and look forward to our new adventures, people to meet, and places to explore.
Houses are houses. A home is for a family to create safety, love, and memories.
As I make each move with my two daughters and husband, I find our locations and houses to change, but our home stays the same.

Have a great day!

Christy

Ready to Hang

This is my most recent, completed painting.  It is textured and has many different mediums, paper, and paints.  The colors remind me of fall.

I like to record the process from start to finish...my painting process is not always planned and evolves through each layer of paint and medium.

Original Paintings on Canvas - Framing Original Art

A Painted House A Day
Mixed Media Original Paintings on Canvas

Hi!
Thanks for stopping by. I  reached my goal of completing all 183 houses!
I am on to the next phase of this project of preparing the paintings for the show in December.

What's new in my studio?

Time to Frame!

I am so excited to have begun the process of framing my original mixed media house paintings.  It has taken me a lot of thought and research of how I wanted to frame each canvas in a way that is appealing as well as time effective; as I do have 183 paintings!

First 31 Painted Houses

I have always liked the idea of using wood, as it goes well with the house theme and is a natural product. I am using 6 x 6 inch white wood squares as well as pine wood and some reclaimed barn wood; which is very rustic and perfect for some of the house paintings!

Today I begun by sanding the wood squares and applying a light stain.

I am so happy with how my first frame turned out!  This first one is House #155, Bird House 9 of the Bird Series.  Do you remember this one?  I love this little red bird!  I really like how it looks with the stained wood as a background.

A sneak peak of how this painting looks displayed!
Do you like it?

These original paintings can be displayed hanging on a wall as well as standing on a shelf.

A great way to add color and interest to your home décor!

Where are you going to display your painted house?  I can't wait to see!

I will be busy making the frames for all the houses and will post them here on my blog.

Thank you so much for taking a look at my mixed media original paintings!  If you see something you like on my blog please leave me a comment.  If you are interested in purchasing a painted house or other art works you may email me with your interest.
