A Painted House A Day

Hi Art Bloggers!

As I have completed my goal of creating all my 183 painted houses, I would like to take you back to previous posts throughout my journey in the past six months.  I will be updating posts and sharing my favorite painted houses along with adding some new surprises.

First Painted house "Yellow House"

I am taking on a new creative journey in regards to my art. In the past few years I have really enjoyed creating some new art series along with my mixed media Spangled Stars.

Spangled Stars and Original Paintings

...which I love so very much.

I have been reflecting lately on what my art means to me and why I do it. I need something to push me to make art more often. I have been working on a series called "Home Again."

This series depicts the idea of houses and home and what it means to have a warm safe shelter. In my paintings over the past few years I can't seem to get away from making houses. I wonder if it has anything to do with ALL the moves and houses I have lived in over the past years. My husband is in the Army and so we get to move a lot! We have lived in houses in El Paso, Texas, Leavenworth, Kansas, Bellevue, Washington, Fort Hood, Texas, Kirkland, Washington, and Portland, Oregon. I actually mostly look forward to moving and enjoy the process of finding our new house. I have decided to challenge myself to make art everyday for six months...with the subject matter being houses.

I love this idea and I would buy one.I think it would be neat to subtly put the names of places we have lived in the background.

Shannon, I will have the originals for sell (at some point) and I also plan on making prints of the originals. I will make sure to let you know as I get more into the project about the art for sale. That is a great idea to add the places where you have lived!
