In light of the tragic shootings on Fort Hood yesterday, we're reminded more than ever of the important things in our lives. ..like friends and family. We're also reminded of the significance of our homes, which provide a sense of hope, from our memories created there and the security we feel once we walk through the door.
We live about 9 miles from Fort Hood and my husband works on post so he was in the lock down. I was with my daughters at the time of the incident at softball practice. Living in our military community, this really hit close to home!
I woke this morning with a heavy heart and my thoughts were immediately thinking of what had happened.
I knew I wanted to create House #11 to reflect in some way what had happened.
The feeling of a heavy heart needed to be expressed. The blue star represents the brave military soldiers, injured and deceased within the idea of the healing angel. The white heart is to represent the love and healing for these families and our community.
