What Will You Create Today?

Hello Art Bloggers!

Thanks for stopping by.

My post today is inspired by the following quote...I found in an art magazine over the weekend, while sipping coffee at my local book store.

Make Something Every Day!

Sounds easy, Right?
Not so much...With the realities of everyday life and So many things that can get in the way. So, how can we create something everyday?

For myself, the following tips seem to help me in carving out some creative time.

* Create a Designated Space for Creating

My studio space is in the "dining room."

* Start Small...even 10 Minutes a Day to work on Creating...can get Your Creative Juices Flowing

* Find Your Inspiration!...Where Do You Find Yours?

*Set a Goal...
Maybe you will finish five small drawings in two weeks...Or One Painting in a month...Working a little bit each day.

A Work in Progress

“There is no doubt that creativity is the most important human resource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns.” — Edward de Bono

I would love to hear about your creative process...please feel free to leave comments on this blog.

What's In My Studio Today? Mixed Media Original Collage on Wood - NEW!

What's In My Studio Today?

Mockingbird Song

I had fun creating this mixed media collage. It has a variety of materials - including; acrylic paint, handmade paper, maps, and oil bars.

My daughter is learning about the State of Texas and various facts; including the state bird - the Mockingbird.
She told me that the Mockingbird songs are over a dozen in variety. Come to find out, they actually have up to 200 songs!
They are also very territorial of their space and especially their nest.  They will attempt to fly at anyone who threatens their space as well as make a very loud noise to let you know they are upset. We have Mockingbirds that nest around our yard and we can hear them singing as they protect their homes.

This collage painting is inspired by the Mockingbird and it's many songs.
Do you notice the little house?  If you have been following my blog...you know my love for using the house image in my work and my art challenge, A painted House A Day.
By the way...I am working hard to frame all of the house paintings.
The show is January 26th, 2015!
If you are new here, you will have to read back on my posts to see what I have been up to.

Mockingbird Song

This art can be displayed hanging on the wall or standing on a shelf.

Very interesting...

Texas designated the mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) as official state bird in 1927. Northern Mockingbirds have extraordinary vocal abilities - they can sing up to 200 songs, including the songs of other birds, insect and amphibian sounds, even an occasional mechanical noise. The northern mockingbird is also the state bird of Florida, Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi.
The Texas legislature noted that the mockingbird:
"...is found in all parts of the State, in winter and
in summer, in the city and in the country, on the prairie and in the woods and hills...is a singer of distinctive type, a fighter for the protection of his home, falling, if need be, in its defense, like any true Texan..."

Original Mixed Media Paintings - An Artists Creative Journey Through A Painting A Day

Hello!
It's soooo late here and I would love a cup of good coffee!  Probably not a good idea as I still need to Go to bed!

I just couldn't wait to post this vimeo video I made today!

Painted House A Day

It was so much fun to make and now that it is finished I see where I could have added more. I would have liked to add some of the quotes I used on this blog, with each daily painted house... But that is how this whole art project has been; a real learning experience that I can mold and adjust as I learn and find new things to add at a later time.

As I get ready to prepare for my art show with my painted houses ...

Original Paintings on Canvas - Framing Original Art

A Painted House A Day
Mixed Media Original Paintings on Canvas

Hi!
Thanks for stopping by. I  reached my goal of completing all 183 houses!
I am on to the next phase of this project of preparing the paintings for the show in December.

What's new in my studio?

Time to Frame!

I am so excited to have begun the process of framing my original mixed media house paintings.  It has taken me a lot of thought and research of how I wanted to frame each canvas in a way that is appealing as well as time effective; as I do have 183 paintings!

First 31 Painted Houses

I have always liked the idea of using wood, as it goes well with the house theme and is a natural product. I am using 6 x 6 inch white wood squares as well as pine wood and some reclaimed barn wood; which is very rustic and perfect for some of the house paintings!

Today I begun by sanding the wood squares and applying a light stain.

I am so happy with how my first frame turned out!  This first one is House #155, Bird House 9 of the Bird Series.  Do you remember this one?  I love this little red bird!  I really like how it looks with the stained wood as a background.

A sneak peak of how this painting looks displayed!
Do you like it?

These original paintings can be displayed hanging on a wall as well as standing on a shelf.

A great way to add color and interest to your home décor!

Where are you going to display your painted house?  I can't wait to see!

I will be busy making the frames for all the houses and will post them here on my blog.

Thank you so much for taking a look at my mixed media original paintings!  If you see something you like on my blog please leave me a comment.  If you are interested in purchasing a painted house or other art works you may email me with your interest.
