Happy New Year to All!

A new year to create and try new art techniques.

I have goals to try new mediums, experiment with new colors, and begin some new art challenges.

My art show is in three weeks-

After I complete the show, I hope to dive into some new paintings.

Here is an art challenge to try... 30 Paintings in 30 Days
I am not ready to start this today, but would like to possibly, when the next months challenge begins.

Chalk the block
The pictures below are from some years ago when I worked with another artist friend in a collaboration to create a sidewalk chalk mural.
This was my first time to try this technique.
This sidewalk art was created in El Paso, TX at,

ARTIST’S RECEPTION

Who:  CHRISTY TREMBLAY
When:  Saturday, January 24th from 5 - 8pm

Where:  Salado Wine Seller, 841 N.
 Main St., Salado, TX 76571

Join us on Saturday, January 24th from 5-8 pm, when Christy Tremblay will be on hand to discuss her art show “A Painted House a Day“.  Ms. Tremblay, a mixed media artist,  was selected for the next exhibition at the winery due to her unique perspective on military life.

Christy just completed an art challenge, A Painted House A Day. Her goal was to create with paint and mixed media one house image a day, for 183 days. She completed 183 Painted Houses from March 2014 to September 2014.
A Northwest native, Christy has taught in Korea and visited cities, rural areas and islands in Southeast Asia. She started using the imagery of houses in her art about four years ago when she and her family were living on Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. They had a historical Bungalow with a lot of charm.  She says, " Growing up I had two houses I called 'home.' As an adult and with a family of my own, I have had many houses to make a home. My husband is Active Duty Army and we move often.  Although a move comes with work and saying
goodbyes, we embrace each move and look forward to our new adventures, people to meet, and places to explore. Houses are houses. A home is for a family to create safety, love, and memories. As I make each move with my two daughters and husband, I find our locations and houses to change, but our home stays the same.”

The Salado Winery gallery will be filled with Ms. Tremblay's artwork, which will be available for sale throughout the spring.  Wines produced on the premise will be available for savoring as folks view and purchase these local art treasures.

What Will You Create Today?

Hello Art Bloggers!

Thanks for stopping by.

My post today is inspired by the following quote...I found in an art magazine over the weekend, while sipping coffee at my local book store.

Make Something Every Day!

Sounds easy, Right?
Not so much...With the realities of everyday life and So many things that can get in the way. So, how can we create something everyday?

For myself, the following tips seem to help me in carving out some creative time.

* Create a Designated Space for Creating

My studio space is in the "dining room."

* Start Small...even 10 Minutes a Day to work on Creating...can get Your Creative Juices Flowing

* Find Your Inspiration!...Where Do You Find Yours?

*Set a Goal...
Maybe you will finish five small drawings in two weeks...Or One Painting in a month...Working a little bit each day.

A Work in Progress

“There is no doubt that creativity is the most important human resource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns.” — Edward de Bono

I would love to hear about your creative process...please feel free to leave comments on this blog.

ORIGINAL Abstract Mixed Media Painting - NEW!!! "Walking with Fall"

Hi!
Thanks for stopping by!

I started a new series called, "Walking with Fall."  I finished the first painting in this series just yesterday.  This series is inspired by the cool crisp mornings we have had here in Texas.  Well, we have really only had two of these mornings, but I will take it!  I hope more will follow. It is so nice to head out the door with a lightweight sweatshirt to walk my daughter to school.  It feels like fall!
Fall is now my favorite time of the year, with all of the changes it brings from the hot summer, it is a welcoming season.

This is the first painting in this series. It is a mixed media abstract painting.  I used acrylic paints, oil sticks, paper, pencil, and gloss gel medium.

Can you find the house?  I guess I will continue to use house images in my work.

I also wanted to share an artist I recently found...she is a Canadian artist and I love her color palate, as it is very similar to the colors I love to use in my work.  Click on the following link to see her blog and some of her paintings.

Hope you enjoy!
Have a creative day!

Wow!  I have lived in some pretty colorful places.  Seriously though, each place has been an experience and I am lucky to have been able to live in so many new places.  I have so many memories and friends all over the country!  My daughters have learned to adapt to this gypsy life style that an Army life brings.  Because of all the moves and changes, they are very resilient and thrive in new situations.

So, this brings me to having just ONE house left to paint.  I hope you have enjoyed this journey with me, in seeing each new painted house.  I also hope that you will continue to stop by my blog to see what new art endeavors I am doing. And to see my latest paintings.
