Look at the difference from Rainbow House 1 to all the following Rainbow Houses!  I like how the abstractness took over...What do you think?

 

Do you realize - I am down to painting my last 8 houses!?  Really...ONLY 8 more to go!

For my last series of houses, I will paint the houses which I have lived in.  I may need to go beyond 8 houses to achieve this (not joking:)remember we are a military family. Or I may decide to paint only my favorite houses.

 

This first one is...

Our House 1

Location is - North bend, WA.

This house was an A -frame cabin style home which sat on the Snoqualmie river and at the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range.

Location - Fort Leavenworth, KS.



We didn't live in a barn...we lived on the military base of Fort Leavenworth.  This is what I think of when I remember our time at Leavenworth (no pun intended:) There are so many barns and lines of maize color fields.

Here is my next series of art houses...Bird House (nest.) 

The inspiration for the nest comes from my own backyard little bird that has built a nest in the corner of the backyard porch...near the roof. I have a perfect view from my kitchen window.  We are waiting and hoping for bird babies any day. The bird in this photo on the fence sits all day in the nest, only to fly away if we get to close, which I have instructed my daughters to keep their distance. I was lucky to look outside at the right time to see another small bird with a bright red throat feeding the bird in the nest. 

It is our little summer visitor and a gift to see the bird sitting in the nest each day.

My painted art houses are coming along. I have seventy - four in all and am working on house #75 today. 
I wanted to document with pictures the houses grouped together by series.
So far, I have seven series completed and am working on the eighth series called "Yellow House."

My friend Jenn,  reminded me of the song by John Cougar Mellancamp, Little Pink Houses For You and Me. I did a pink house back in my Rain series.
Here is another pink house! I looked up the lyrics to the song and it actually fits very well for this pink house as well as Memorial Day weekend. A similar saying I hear a lot in the Army town I live in. .. "Home of the free, because of the brave."

Polka Dots Series & New Series

I loved the polka dots series! Mainly because I love circles and dots and have always used them in my paintings.  Here are all of the polka dot series together.

I am starting my new series today which will be house #62. I'm not sure yet what the title will be. I posted this picture of the first steps in preparation for this series.  These are hand made stencils, I made this morning.  I am using the semi - relief technique in making the houses. I use molding paste, similar to plaster. When the molding paste dries, I can paint over the house and add the details.
Check back tonight to see the first house in this series. ..and for the title. Any ideas??
